Virginia woman faces DUI charges after multi-car accident

A drunk driving charge can be one of the most difficult things you ever have to face in your life. However, it is important to remember that just because you were charged with a DUI, does not mean you will be convicted.

A Virginia woman was recently accused of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol after her involvement in an accident in Prince William County. She has been charged with one count of DUI, five counts of hit and run, attempted assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, driving without a license and reckless driving. This is her second DUI charge in 10 years. She is currently being held in jail without bond and has a court date set for December 13.

Officers responded to calls saying the woman was driving erratically and had hit multiple vehicles. Officers found the woman in the disabled car, where she allegedly attempted to assault an officer as she was being arrested. She allegedly crashed into eight vehicles.

Police determined that she was under the influence of alcohol and was suspected of being under the influence of PCP. The woman and two of the drivers that she hit were treated at a local hospital.

When a driver is arrested for a DUI, they may be required to take a test to determine their blood alcohol content. However, failure to administer the test properly can invalidate the results. Defending against a DUI charge often requires the defendant to prove that the results of the test are invalid. If the invalidity can be proven, charges may be dropped.
