Biography

In 2009, Hollie Owen Collins founded The Collins Law Firm, P.C. with her husband and practicing partner, J. Kevin Collins.

A native of Hampton Roads, Hollie graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1998. While attending Old Dominion University, Hollie worked for a local prestigious and fast paced law firm as a paralegal. She obtained her paralegal degree from Tidewater Community College while pursuing her B.A. from Old Dominion University. In 2001, she received her J.D. from Regent University School of Law, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Hollie's practice involves a heavy focus on custody cases, relocation cases, and guardian ad litem work serving as the child’s advocate when custody and visitation are in dispute and before the court. As a guardian ad litem, she investigates, speaks with each parent and her ward, then makes a recommendation to the judge as to what the custody and visitation arrangement should be. This gives her a unique perspective, having served as both a private counselor and court appointed guardian ad litem for children in the center of a custody controversy. Hollie is well seasoned in what the court will be looking for and is able to prepare her clients ahead of time, in order to put them in the best possible position and look out for their best interests. She has handled cases throughout much of the state, including Greensville County, Southampton County, Isle of Wight County, Franklin, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, Gloucester, York County, Northampton County, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Williamsburg/James City County and Virginia Beach. She has also maneuvered many relocation cases successfully, assisting clients in moving their minor children out of this commonwealth, as well as preventing others from moving the children out of state.

Hollie is the founding director of Ruff Road Pet Rescue, her labor of love which she incorporated in June 2015; and she continues to serve as a president and director. It has always operated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with no paid directors or volunteers. Ruff Road rescues dogs and cats at risk of euthanasia because they are on death row in shelters. Since incorporation, Ruff Road has saved thousands of animals and placed them into loving forever homes. The rescue relies solely on donations to operate, promotes spay and neuter of personal pets, and supports TNR for cats in communities overburdened with ferals. The message of Ruff Road is that everyone can do something such as volunteering, donating, fostering, transporting; and "Adopt Don’t Shop".

Hollie is a member of the Portsmouth and Emporia-Greensville Bar Associations.
