Getting charged for a crime is always difficult, but crimes involving sexual abuse or sexual relations with a minor are particularly devastating. The potential consequences of a sex-related criminal charge go beyond the legal consequences of jailtime and fines. The accused may also have their reputation in the community destroyed and have a difficult time finding a job or seeing their children, if they have any. An effective criminal defense strategy can save you from facing these consequences.
A Virginia dance instructor is now facing criminal charges after he was accused of having sexual relations with some of his students. An employee of the dance studio where the man works called police to report an alleged sexual offense that occurred between a dance instructor and their student. Police investigated the claim and allegedly discovered that the man was inappropriately communicating with three teen girls. Police also believe that he had a sexual relationship with one of the teens who was 14-years-old at the time.
The dance instructor has been charged with carnal knowledge of a child between the ages of 13 and 15 and multiple counts of charges relating to child pornography. He is being held at a detention center without bond.
Coming with a defense to child abuse of any kind can be challenging, especially if the child testifies to the abuse. However, false accusations do occur more often than you may think. If you are facing these types of charges, your attorney can help defend you by casting doubt on the prosecution’s case and proving inaccuracies.
